Eligible students for CSB:
- Canadian citizens or permanent residents
- International students with valid student visa eligible for CSB Undergraduate Research Award only
- registered in at least one of the two terms immediately before holding the award
- 2nd year or higher
- cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better (including Fall 2023 grades)
- applications from self-identified Black and Indigenous students are strongly encouraged and will be considered beyond our allocation of awards.

Summer 2025 Applications due: TBA
Purpose: To provide opportunities for research experience at the undergraduate level in either the Natural Sciences and Engineering (NSE) or Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH); to augment the formal research courses offered by the University of Toronto; to give undergraduate students opportunities to experience different approaches to research in various fields; to help students learn and appreciate the investigative methodology of areas of particular interest; and, to provide students with an experience that will allow them to make informed decisions about pursuing careers in research.

2024-25 Applications due: June 15, 2024
- This scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding undergraduate or graduate student in plant biology who is involved in community service activities.
- Preference will be given to undergraduate students.
- In order to be eligible, students have to be studying plant biology. This involves taking some courses pertaining to plants. Eligible courses include, but are not limited to, BIO251H1, CSB350H1, CSB353H1, CSB452H1, EEB340H1, etc.
- A letter of reference is required from a person that can evaluate the student’s level of community service.

In-Course Awards (no application required)
Awarded to an outstanding student in the Specialist or Major Program offered by the Department of Cell and Systems Biology based on performance in third year. The award may not be won by the same student more than once.
Awarded to a student enrolled in a program offered by the Department of Cell and Systems Biology, who has completed three full course equivalents in Biology, Cell & Systems Biology, Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, and/or joint courses with these.
Awarded to a student enrolled in a Specialist or Major program in the Department of Cell and Systems Biology who has completed BIO130H and BIO230H, based on performance in second year. Financial need and academic merit will be considered.
Awarded to a full-time student in the Faculty of Arts & Science proceeding to fourth year of an undergraduate program in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, on the basis of academic merit. Preference will be given to students with demonstrated financial need. Award will alternate each year between EEB and CSB.
Awarded based on financial need and academic merit during the 2021-22 academic year to a second or third year student in a Specialist or Major program offered by the Department of Cell and Systems Biology who has completed a course on animal physiology (BIO270H and BIO271H).
Awarded to a student in the Specialist or Major program offered by the Department of Cell and Systems Biology who has completed a course in animal physiology (BIO270H and BIO271H) based on performance in second or third year. Financial need and academic merit will be considered.
