Research Description

Our research program is focused on the actions of three families of peptide hormones that encompass metabolism, stress and reproduction. These include 1) teneurin C-terminal associated peptide family; 2) Corticotropin-releasing hormone family, and 3) gonadotropin releasing hormone family. Our interest is how paralogous expansion of stress and metabolism based peptides act to regulate reproduction, growth and behaviour. Current studies utilize mammal, fish and tunicate models to provide and understanding how these systems evolve in vertebrates. Other studies are aimed at developing new approaches for the treatment of human stress associated pathology in the area of neurological, metabolic and fertility disorders.
