CSB397Y0Y, Research Abroad in Cell and Systems Biology

The Department of Cell and Systems Biology, in collaboration with the Centre for International Experience (CIE) and U of T’s partner institutions abroad, offer an independent research course for CSB students.  This course is intended for students who have completed their 3rd year of study by the time they take the course.  However, some 2nd and 4th year students have also been accepted.  CSB397Y0 allows you to gain international research experience while you complete a U of T credit towards your degree.

There will be an Orientation Session on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at 4-5pm.

If you wish to apply, you must do so on-line through CIE at  https://learningabroad.utoronto.ca/prepare/.  The application form will be available in the Fall.  The deadline to apply will be early December 2020.

You can also register to attend CIE’s virtual info session specific to Cell and Systems Biology students!

By attending the session, you can:  

  • Explore the advantages of learning abroad by applying to a course or research based exchange opportunities.
  • Find out what opportunities and funding options are available.
  • Ask questions on eligibility, and learn how to submit your application to CIE.

Registration for this session is mandatory, as the meeting link will only be sent to those who registered.

There are a number of partner institutions where we have sent our students.  They are City University of Hong Kong (CityU), National University of Singapore (NUS), the University of Konstanz (Germany), RIKEN Institute (Japan), University of Copenhagen (Denmark), Masaryk University (Czech Republic), Strathclyde University (Scotland) and Tel Aviv University (Israel). Opportunities at these institutions will depend on COVID restrictions.

We will consider sending students to other CIE partner institutions on a case by case basis.
